| Never Date a Scorpio | Jealous, paranoid, and possessive - deep down, your Scorpio will never trust you. And even if you are very trust worthy person, Scorpio's paranoia may drive you to act out.
Instead try dating: Aries, Gemini, Libra, or Sagittarius |
| You Should Be An Aries | What's good about you: you're fearless about taking charge and grabbing the spotlight
What's bad about you: if you're annoyed, you're not going to hide it!
In love: you jump in quickly and don't mind risking your heart
In friendship, you're: likely to have a new best friend each month
Your ideal job: detective, butcher, or surgeon
Your sense of fashion: ultra trendy and sexy
You like to pig out on: appetizers, especially buffalo wings |
| You Are "Wow"! | |

| You Are Wolverine | Small but fierce, you're a great fighter. Watch out! You are often you're own greatest enemy.
Powers: Adamantium claws, keen senses, the ability to heal quickly |
Awww @$#%$#!!!!!! I AM NOT WOLVERINE! I DOWANNA BE WOLVERINE!
| You Are Bert | Extremely serious and a little eccentric, people find you loveable - even if you don't love them!
You are usually feeling: Logical - you rarely let your emotions rule you
You are famous for: Being smart, a total neat freak, and maybe just a little evil
How you life your life: With passion, even if your odd passions (like bottle caps and pigeons) are baffling to others |
I would much rather be Bert though. :P How bout you guys?

Couldn't make it to the Boh Cameronian Arts Awards (yes, I was invited!) because it would have been too much of a rush to head to Kuala Lumpur after school. I'd have to go straight in my school uniform to make it on time (since the theme for the night is "My Malaysia", I would have gone in my school uniform anyway. Maybe even go in my blue pinafore one that I wore while in lower forms.
You'll get to see our kind of uniforms on Hoong Rhu's website. Too busy to upload my own photos.
So Kakiseni sent me to review a couple shows instead. Last night was fun! Watched two monologues about weird, unmarried, middle-aged men living with their mothers. Quite interesting, actually.
Read the synopsis here: http://www.kakiseni.com/events/theatre/ODMzMw.html
Tonight is going to be a *ugh* Bangsawan. I've never watched one before - not into Malay theatre, especially traditional Malay theatre - but I'm told that these Malay theatre ppl AREN'T PUNCTUAL, and the performance could take 2-3 hours. GAH! It starts at 8.30pm ... and the theatre is pretty far from the jetty. The last ferry is 12.00pm. Worst comes to the worst, I'll have to walk out on it I guess. Won't have Adrian taking me home tonight I'm afraid. Was really sweet of him to drop me off yesterday while going back to Kulim.
Synopsis http://www.kakiseni.com/events/theatre/ODMzMw.html
Will be meeting Adrian for dinner shortly. Not sure what we'll be having tonight, last night was Indian food. Found out that Adrian used to live around here before moving to Kulim!
Anyway, its 6pm already so I'd better be getting ready. Adrian's coming to pick me up at 7pm. :)

Why is it that when a young Malaysian couple hugged in public, they were arrested and sent to court. Yet when Dr M and Rafidah hugged in public, it's perfectly ok?
~ from Kenny Sia
These authorities aa ... haih ... so stuffy, never kiss before meh? Never tasted the sweetness of human lips? Never felt the warmth of a human body? Even I, who has never been kissed, can't see the sense of not letting others kiss in public.

My article is out! My pics are out too. :)
http://kakiseni.com/articles/features/MDg0NQ.html
I haven't done a piece of theatre-related writing for some time already. Read and comment.
PS: I found that my entire theatre blog content has been deleted. :S Either I did it on my own, or maybe when I was hacked? :( I hope it isn't the latter. But I'm still miffled that all the theatre-related writings I've collected over the last year are gone. I won't be able to rewrite them, now that I'm not doing theatre anymore.

I got a rather unexpected email last night from the Kakiseni editor:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Subject: Dramatist Blog From: "pang" <pang@kakiseni.com> Date: Fri, March 10, 2006 9:34 pm To: J@maksim-mrvica.tk Priority: Normal
name: pang email: pang@kakiseni.com website: http://www.kakiseni.com Comments: Hey dude, sorry about what happened to your blog. I remember reading it once and liking it enough to bookmark it. I am the editor of Kakiseni and am urgently looking for a writer in Penang. If you are interested, please call me back as soon as possible. Cheers!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
O.M.G. I've never even dreamed of writing for Kakiseni! I used to read it a lot when I was involved in theatre, but since I promised my mother I'd stopped ... well, I stopped.
Now they're asking me to write for them?
P/S: btw, I was rather surprised to see my theare blog gone all wonky. Somehow, I didn't realise it. Should fix it soon.
PPS: I'd also noticed that since I left the Malaysian blogosphere and now, I seem to have spawned a whole breed of theatre blogs, probably due to exposure from Living Arts. Now all those famous arty-farts like Gavin are doing theatre blogs too. Garn, I used to be the only one. Maybe it IS time to resurruct Confessions of a Teenage Dramatist.

OK, before the depressing entry, here's smth I stole from Eyeris

*******************************************************************
This is my first day since dumping David. Or well, since my attempt to dump him. And its not going well. I seem to have lost my drive, can't eat, just wanting to go to sleep all the time, lack of focus and I'm experiencing daily-life malfunction ... In short, I feel like I'm the one that's been dumped instead of the one that's dumping.
Honestly, it was the worst time to initiate smth like this, but then I always have a problem with timing.
( Here's what happened. )
I wonder if I'd done the right thing. Maybe I should have just ignored that nagging feeling and someday, someone might come then I can let go of him. I guess I couldn't wait though. I couldn't stop the occasional agonising feeling that he was in the arms of another while being so wonderful to me.
What's done is done I guess. I don't even know what I want to say to him anymore. I'd hoped he'd write me, but he didn't.
It's hard enough to write a good drama, it's much harder to write a good comedy, and it's hardest of all to write a drama with comedy. Which is what life is.

My teacher passed me an entry form to this annual Teacher's Day story-writing competition. My mother won last year (they have student and teacher categories) so I thought I'd try my luck this year. The theme is "Pelajar Cemerlang, Generasi Gemilang" ("Excellent Student, Glorious Generation", or smth like that.)
If you got some time to spare, read it and let me know what you think. :) The word limit is 1000 words so I wasn't able to develop it as much as I would have liked to.
( My entry )
Am thinking on expanding it to a full-blown monologue and passing it to the peeps at the Actors Studio.

Well, I don't really celebrate Deepavali or Hari Raya Aidilfitri, but I got lotsa friends who do, so I celebrate w/ them!
My father isn't one to remember his invitations. In fact, he's gotten kinda lazy to respond to those he remembers as well. As for me, most of my school friends are chinese, so no invites for me too. But I got my first "alone" Deepavali invite this year (which I attended without my family members in tow.) and it's from my Taekwondo teammate, Subash!

So sweet of him to ask! :) As it was, I had to be mistaken by his parents' friends for his gf. >:( I suppose it was the shock at seeing a girl cos all his friends (those who were still there anyway) were guys.

I'd never expected this. It's smth I had worked so darned hard for, and it could just blow in a matter of minutes.
I almost could not complete my MUET writing paper because by hands went woosy and weak during the exam. After all the effort I put in, defeat by freak accident was the last thing I'd expected. If I'd done my best and got a Band 5, I wouldn't mind, but this?!
I think I'd hurt my left hand. It's starting to feel weak after a bit of typing.

I'm taking my Malaysian University English Test tomorrow.
I want a Band 6.
Please let me get a Band 6.
Please let me not make stupid mistakes or forget to check every option before selecting an answer. Please let me not rub off a correct answer and substitute it with a wrong one.
Please let me be able to write my essay.
*sigh* It's now or never - I do not intend to retake the MUET next year, preparing for it is too time consuming. If I don't get a Band 6, I'll just have to work harder at my other subjects and Taekwondo.

 | You scored as Buddhism. Your beliefs most closely resemble those of Buddhism. Do more research on Buddhism and possibly consider becoming Buddhist, if you are not already.
In Buddhism, there are Four Noble Truths: (1) Life is suffering. (2) All suffering is caused by ignorance of the nature of reality and the craving, attachment, and grasping that result from such ignorance. (3) Suffering can be ended by overcoming ignorance and attachment. (4) The path to the suppression of suffering is the Noble Eightfold Path, which consists of right views, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right-mindedness, and right contemplation. These eight are usually divided into three categories that base the Buddhist faith: morality, wisdom, and samadhi, or concentration. In Buddhism, there is no hierarchy, nor caste system; the Buddha taught that one's spiritual worth is not based on birth.

| What I learnt at UniKL |
[ |

Taekwondo tournaments are very noisy events - the audience can get all riled up and scream their lungs out cheering the fighters (kinda like during a football game, but in this case, the girls scream too), especially if there's a good match going on. Sometimes the supporters will "heckle" each other good-naturedly, calling the fighters names, telling the ones they support to "Tendang kepala dia, dia pendek!" (kick her head, she's short!), get up to dance when "their participant" wins, and all sorts of nonsense. It might seem very rowdy and uncivilised, but the important thing is, everybody understands that it's all in good fun and they take it with a pinch of salt. Last weekend at the UniKL Open in Kulim (which I attended, but didn't participate in since my right leg was rather messed up due to a motorcycle accident I was involved in a few weeks ago) was no different. Everybody was yelling and cheering their heads off, especially the Navy, which outshouts everybody everytime cos they send the most participants and bring along a busload of supporters. The UniKL team was equally loud, this tourney being on home ground after all. My team had our fair share of cheering, but it wasn't as great cos we'd only had 4 entries this time, what with Nitia and I sitting out cos of injuries and the Dato' Onn gang giving it a miss cos of PMR, SPM and STPM exams.
Anyway, it during a Navy vs. UniKL match, which was pretty good and the hall was filled with deafening noise when *something* happened. Suddenly, for no apparent reason whatsoever, the entire Navy team jumped up from their places and strided over to the UniKL supporters, eyes ablaze and ready to beat the living daylights out of them. Watching them swarm out like an army of wasps was just plain terrifying. My team was sitting beside the UniKL group, and as the Navy came over, Subash and I were like, "sdjkhsadlfjhsa!!!!" because we'd seen this before during the Kedah Open and we knew how scary things could get. My father, being the highest ranking chief instructor in the Northern region, got up to intervene, and so did the other coaches. It took a long time to get them to go back to their places, even with the Navy coach ordering them to sit down, and despite sitting down, they were still unsatisfied and complaining until my father went over to talk to them for a bit, then they calmed down.
My teammates and I had no idea why the Navy formed an angry mob. When they did that during the Kedah Open, it was because the guy fighting their teammate was being unethical in the ring - their teammate slipped and fell, and his opponent took the chance to boot him in the head when he was down. That was just plain unsporting, and we understood why the Navy, which is very particular about fair play, got so upset about it. But in this case, there was *absolutely nothing*. So what's eating them?
Turns out that they got REALLY angry when the UniKL students started outing obscenities at them and showing them various hand signals. My father told the Navy that those who were behaving like that were outsiders, not Taekwondo students, and they understood and calmed down. However, this was definately something to serve as a reminder that we were so used to seeing these things that we were totally oblivious to how serious the consequences could be. I suppose it was the same for the UniKL students too - they were so used to sticking their middle finger out at people that they'd forgotten what it really means.
Strangely, I'm glad the Navy did what they did that day. It drove home the gravity of the situation, that we shouldn't do such things lightly. These times are saturated with so many negative influences that we just take them for granted and consider them normal, it's a good thing to know that there are people who don't believe that behaving that way is okay.
